# Lesson Plans for CED Unit 8: Chi-Square Tests

Updated: Mar 16, 2020

Students have just completed two big inference units: __inference for proportions__ and __inference for means__. At this point in the year, they should be very comfortable with the thinking and reasoning behind significance tests. Equipped with this knowledge and a new type of distribution (chi-square), students are generally very successful in this unit (also they just love all the candy).

If you are using **TPS 4e, 5e, or Classic 6e **and are __not__ planning on following the sequence in the CED, you can simply use __Chapter 11__ in our __150 Days of AP Stats__. This sequence will __cover everything in the CED__ (just in a slightly different sequence).

If you are using **TPS 6e UPDATE** or want to use the new sequence of topics in the CED, here is your plan:

**Lesson Plans for CED Unit 8**

**Chi-Square Tests**

### Lessons 12.1 and 12.2 in TPS 6e UPDATE

__Day 1: Chi-Square Goodness of Fit - Day 1 (Lesson 12.1 Day 1)__

__Day 2: Chi-Square Goodness of Fit - Day 2 (Lesson 12.1 Day 2)__

Day 3: Quiz 12.1

__Day 4: Chi-Square Test of Homogeneity (Lesson 12.2 Day 1)__

__Day 5: Chi-Square Test of Independence (Lesson 12.2 Day 2)____ New Lesson!__

Day 6: Quiz 12.2

Day 7: Review

Day 8: Test

Notice that we decided to test on chi-square only (Lessons 12.1 and 12.2), and to simply give a quiz on inference for slopes (Lesson 12.3).

Students are now ready for the final unit of the course (__CED Unit 9__) covering inference for slope!
