Answer Key:

Begin this lesson by asking students if they have ever seen menus at restaurants that have the calories listed next to the items. Do they like it? Do they hate it? Does they ever change their order because of it? Is it ok at some restaurants but not at others? Give them a few minutes to discuss this in their groups to help develop some buy-in to the context. Quickly show students this article which discusses a study done at Starbucks locations to help determine if labeling the menu impacts consumer behavior. Don’t let them read the whole article. (No spoilers in our classes!)

**Disclaimer: The full data was not given in the article and after a long trail of clicking links, we ended up creating the data in the activity to fit the claims in the article.**

Significance test for the difference of means

After the introducing the class to the context, let the students complete the entire activity in their groups without teacher input. At this point, they should be able to figure out everything that is needed to complete the significance test.
